Figural Candlestick, Delightful 1950s-Era Ceramic Sculpture with Candleholder

About the Item

Graceful and quiet, this entrancing figural candlestick was designed by Lore Friedrich-Gronau for the famous Karlsruhe ceramic works in Germany in the 1950s. She was famous for her approach to glazing, contrasting the bare brown clay with areas of glaze in pale shades of blue and yellow. The candleholder is a vivid orange color, and the figure is partially glazed in white highlighted by areas of mint blue-green.
