About the Item

A refined small-format Art Deco desk clock with an unmistakably Swiss 8-day movement, presented in a square gilt-bronze case with a fold-out strut back. The front is framed by a crisp geometric border of kiln-fired enamel in two tones of blue—midnight lozenges alternating with lighter linear “rail” motifs at the corners—an elegant, period-perfect accent against the soft matte gilt ground. The dial itself is a warm, even champagne, laid out with bold relief Arabic numerals that read cleanly from a distance and retain their original silvered finish and a luminescence glow. Slender feuille-and-baton hands—blued to harmonize with the enamel work—sweep a railroad minute track that is recessed inside a fine inner bezel. “8 DAYS” is printed at center, and “SWISS” appears at the foot, confirming the high-grade, long-reserve movement within. The case is solid and well made, with a slightly stepped front bezel and a smooth, flat profile to the sides that underscores the clock’s modernist character. The rear plate is neatly engineered: a circular movement cover sits within a framed panel, with the winder, hand-set, and regulation apertures cleanly arranged and a shaped strut stand that folds flush when not in use, allowing the clock to travel safely or sit flat in a drawer. The compact scale makes it ideal on a desk, night table, or shelf, and the palette—champagne gilt with cobalt and sky-blue enamel—adds a subtle but sophisticated pop of color to any vignette. Measuring 3.5 inches wide by 3.625 inches high, this is a quintessential late-1920s/early-1930s Swiss Art Deco desk timepiece—compact, beautifully detailed, and eminently displayable—its crisp geometry and enamel ornament capturing the streamlined elegance of the period.
