Rara pendola da viaggio detta “marescialla” con suoneria di ore e quarti, ripetizione a richiesta e sveglia. Cassa: in bronzo dorato con modanatura “gradinata” arricchita da fregi ed incisioni floreali, cimasa rastremata, maniglia pieghevole a forma di serpente che si morde la coda. La cassa poggia su quattro piedini a zampa di leone. Sul fronte, sportello con vetro per accedere ai fori di carica e per impostare l’ora, i minuti e la sveglia. Due cordoncini laterali per azionare la ripetizione e per armare la sveglia. Sul retro sportello per accedere al movimento. Quadrante “a fascia” circolare in smalto bianco con numeri arabi e fascia tratteggiata in smalto nero. Nella parte centrale decorazione in bronzo dorato con bassorilievo raffigurante la ninfa Clizia (figlia di Oceano) che osserva il sole (allegoria di Apollo, suo amato) appoggiata ad una ancora di nave. Due fori di carica decentrati per il tempo e la suoneria. Lancette in acciaio brunito. Movimento: in ottone, doppia platina, scappamento a verga, bilanciere monometallico, doppio bariletto, dispositivo di “advance – retard”, suoneria a rastrello su due campanelli. Dispositivo suona – non suona posto sotto il fondo della cassa. Firmata sul quadrante “LeRoy et Fils”. Periodo e provenienza: 1790/1800 circa. Ginevra – Svizzera. Dimensioni: cm 24 (altezza con maniglia), cm 21 (senza maniglia), cm 12,5 (larghezza), cm 8 (profondità). Le cosiddette "pendules d’officier", dette “marescialle” in Italia, comparvero verso la fine del XVIII secolo e furono prodotte fino al 1820 circa. I centri di produzione erano: Svizzera, nella regione del Neuchâtel (specialmente a La Chaux – de – Fonds), ma è possibile che qualche esemplare sia stato costruito anche in Francia, nella vicina Franche-Comté. La leggenda narra che il generale Bonaparte, particolarmente amante della puntualità, specie durante le campagne militari, avrebbe preteso che tutti i suoi ufficiali avessero in dotazione una Marescialla.

A superb high quality eight-day striking and repeating carriage clock, signed on the enamel dial PERREGAUX AU LOCLE, circa 1870. The superb engraved gilt gorge brass case has facetted glass panels to all sides so that the movement is almost entirely visible. The top has a large rectangular window which allows full view of the original silvered platform escapement. At the back, there is a glazed door giving access to the winding and setting arbors, the functions of which are explained indications in French.
