Vintage Swiss Mantel Alarm Clock
About the Item
Vintage mantel clock resting within a gilded strut frame supphandsorting a circular dial surrounded by rope decoration.
Silvered dial with original gilded hands and seperate hand for the alarm.
The dial with raised, gilded, 'Dot' numerals signed ' Looping, Max Affocter, Zurich.
Eight day Swiss movement with alarm, circa 1970
The company was originally known as Looping Corcelles and was in business from the 1920s-early 1980s specialising in high quality decorative alarm clocks for travel or the bedside. The famous film star Marlene Dietrich is known to have owned one of their clocks. The company Max Affocter specalise in high quality Swiss watches and jewellery and was founded in Zurich in 1948.
