18th Century Swedish Gustavian Tall Case Closk

About the Item

An exquisite Swedish tall case clock boasting a rounded crown and clean lines, complemented by a dry-scraped finish. The clock retains its original blue-green and alabaster paint with delicate touches of "Swedish pink" detailing around the dial door. The carved body features beveled molding and intricate fretwork decorations and rests upon carved bracket feet that lend a sophisticated look. The iron face, overlaid with plaster, showcases meticulously hand-painted numerals, while intricately detailed sweeping hands announce the time. All parts are present, and we have been told that the clock could work again. Featuring elegant curves and a striking dry-scraped finish, this Swedish longcase clock is designed to stand out as the centerpiece of any space. Found in Sweden, circa 1780. The clock has been dry-scraped (as found). Original glass is present at the bonnet and door. The original inner workings of the clock are intact. Both weights, wooden pulleys, brass pendulum, and winding tool are present; the string has been replaced (as found). Wear consistent with age and use. Measures approximately 18” W x 8.5” D x 78.75” H.
