18th Mahogany Longcase Clock Robert Fletcher Chester 1784-1820

About the Item

This 18th-century mahogany longcase clock boasts a beautifully painted 13-inch arched dial, featuring a charming sun and moon automaton on the arch, a subsidiary seconds dial, and a date window. The movement strikes a bell, and the case includes fluted pilasters flanking the clock stem, along with a flamed mahogany door and chamfered corners. Later additions include ogee bracket feet, giving it a refined finish. Standing at an impressive 225 cm, this clock is a commanding piece for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Condition Report Case: Unrestored with some wear on the front and left side. A horizontal split in the veneer is visible on the cabinet base. Movement: The movement is clean and in working order, with the clock running reliably each day. Accessories: Complete with two weights, a pendulum, and a working key for the door. Other Notes: The clock’s components fit together well, indicating it is likely original and not a marriage. Special Conditions Please refer to our specific terms of sale for clocks and watches.
