About the Item

Crafted near Lyon, France in 1981, this elegant “Horloge Bressane” showcases the refined lines and graceful proportions of the Louis XV style. Built of richly figured burl walnut, the tall case stands on cabriole feet over a scalloped apron, with a violin-shaped body surmounted by a molded bonnet top. The clock face is framed by a finely chased brass repoussé dial decorated with wheat, grape clusters, and a radiant Sun King mask—traditional emblems of abundance and light. The longcase retains its original pendulum and weights, and the movement has been professionally cleaned and checked, keeping excellent time and striking on the hour and half hour. The interior door bears the inscription “Copie du Musée de Brou à Bourg” and is dated 1981, referencing a faithful reproduction of an 18th-century regional model displayed in the Museum of Brou in Bourg-en-Bresse. The case features a warm, lustrous walnut patina that highlights the exceptional craftsmanship and depth of the wood grain. Weights, pendulum, and winding key included. This charming two-piece cabinet was crafted in Normandy, France circa 1870 in the Louis XV style, blending elegant curves with regional rusticity. Made from richly grained oak, the lower section functions as a confiturier, or jam cupboard, featuring a single paneled door with interior shelving. The front and sides are intricately carved with floral sprays, shell motifs, and stylized foliage that continue along the shaped apron and scrolled feet. The upper vitrine is crowned with a curving bonnet cornice above its original wavy glass-front door, flanked by gracefully contoured open shelves, ideal for displaying pottery, books, or decorative accents.
