About the Item
Grand French longcase clock in Louis XV style featuring a mahogany case adorned with finely cast and fire-gilt bronze mounts. The clock is surmounted by a fully sculpted figure of Chronos, the personification of time. The enamel and bronze dial displays Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for minutes and seconds. The plaque at the center bears the inscription: “Deroüet à Nantes”, identifying the maker and place of origin.
