A rare and whimsically painted tall case clock from Northern Italy, dating to the mid-18th century. Retaining its original polychrome surface, the case features Rococo floral and figural vignettes framed by soft green and rose borders. The arched bonnet is crowned by a pierced crest, while the face bears Roman numerals and delicate scrollwork. An expressive and decorative piece that speaks to the charm of provincial Italian craftsmanship. Height 89 1/2 x width 21 x depth 10 inches.
