Swedish Early 19th C. Fryksdahl Floor Clock 'W/ Original Metal Face & Movement'

About the Item

A Swedish Fryksdahl floor clock, with beautiful embellishments, from the early 19th century. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden is full of decorative accents throughout which enhance and accentuate this shapely clock. The crest or crown consists of a raised swirl atop a headpiece flanked with petite volutes at each side. Carved embellishments flank either side of the neck, which has a small medallion at its center. The underside of the belly is defined at the waist with belted molding with petitle-scrolled ends, and a pair of carved tassels that appear to hang down from the center. This nicely curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flat base. This clock is has been scraped to its original finish with a blackish/brown palette with silver trim accents. Though this piece retains its original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition- though it will make a fabulous decorative statement piece! However, for an additional charge (please require prior to purchase) it can be quartzed to keep perfect time. If quartzed, a new battery would be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, but similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful!). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This early 19th century Swedish Frykdahl grandfather clock, with its bold color palette and great height, would make a great welcoming piece within your entry foyer.
