Swedish Gustavian Longcase Clock
About the Item
Fantastic Swedish Gustavian longcase clock. The case is a Stockholm work from around 1770/1780. It is lacquered and gilded with rich wood-carved details of, among other things, garlands, flowers, an urn and the "running dog" ornament type. The clockwork is a high-class London work by Marckam. The hood and body have original blown glass. It is likely that the clockwork was first purchased from London and then completed with the case in Stockholm.
