About the Item

A very fine Louis XVI style figural mantel clock with matching flanking candelabra. The clock is bronze casted and has an ormolu finish, the dial is enameled iron. Resting on a white marble base. Richly embellished with neoclassical ornaments, flower garlands and ribbons. The central flower basket is flanked by winged puttis. The clock is made in France 1880-1890. The clock is in good condition, it have original gilding. The clockwork runs through a cylinder escapement (échappement), it needs no pendulum. The time can be finely adjusted by the lever in the back side, marked "SRFA", meaning slow-retarde, fast-advance. The clockwork has been fully checked and serviced by a clockmaker and runs well. Dimensions clock: 31 x 24 x 10 cm Dimensions candelabra: 20 x 16 x 9 cm.
