Aaron Willard Boston Federal Shelf Clock Arched & Inlaid Pediment/ Mahogany Case
About the Item
This magnificent shelf clock has an arched and inlaid pediment over a painted dial that is signed "Aaron Willard, Boston," fancifully painted within cartouche with laurel wreath and swag. Features include a cream painted tin dial with gilt highlights, brass movement within a figured mahogany case with original finish, lower section with string inlay, supported by on ogee bracket feet. Brass finial atop. Measurement is to top of finial 34.5 inches.

"Aaron Willard (October 14, 1757 – May 20, 1844) was an entrepreneur, an industrialist, and a designer of clocks who worked extensively at his Roxbury, Massachusetts, factory during the early years of the United States of America."
