About the Item

Antique French Louis XVI portal clock, Paris, circa 1880 White and black marble, bronze, gilt. On gyratory feet and a recessed base, two angular baluster columns crowned with vases and appliqués of Medusa masks support the round clock case, which is framed below by laurel branches and above by a crowning urn vase. Glazed enamel dial. Arabic numerals. Brass hands. Movement with a rigid rear pendulum, verge escapement, hourly strike on a bell, and repeater. H. 50 cm. The movement must be tested for accuracy.
