About the Item

This clock set contains a mantel clock and a pair of candelabra. Unusually, the clock and candelabra are constructed entirely of gilt bronze. The bronze dial of the mantel clock is inscribed with Roman numeral hours on separate enamel cartouches. The drum surrounding the dial is held aloft by an Atlantid type putto, who holds the drum above his head. The drum is topped by a vase finial and flanked on either side by gilt bronze foliate drapes. The whole clock is raised on a flat, shaped base, and features a variety of architectural-type gilt bronze elements. The candelabra are decorated in a conforming manner, constructed atop bases and featuring square profile vase-form stems. Each candelabrum issues four scrolling gilt bronze light branches. Measures: Clock height 48 cm, width 29 cm, depth 15 cm Candelabra height 52 cm, width 18 cm, depth 18 cm.
