About the Item
For your consideration is this super stylish Art Deco Wood and Glass Mantle Clock With Working Original Movement, dating to 1938. Round wood case on polished wood base. The domed glass is held in place within a chromed rim. The clockwork movement is lacquered brass with timekeeping from a Smiths jewelled balance wheel escapement which has been serviced and keeps good time. Time keeping accuracy is through a small lever on the escapement. The dial is veneered wood dial with a silvered chapter ring. Top quality engineering and wood work make this an exceptional clock of the period. Made in England.

The original movement winds and performs well, keeping good time having been professionally serviced by an horologist. The movement is marked 'Foreign'. Walnut veneer in very good condition. New felt on the feet. Glass fitting patent number still on the reverse. Number 24 embossed underneath, possible variant number
Double glass frontage, flat circle with domed glass on top held tight by four bearing headed screws.
Overall condition is excellent showing only minimal signs of use.
