English Porphyry Clock by Ellicott

About the Item

A case of exquisite porphyry and doré bronze houses the verge movement of this rare clock by eminent English clock and watch maker John Ellicott. Ellicott's creations are considered the finest English timepieces of the 18th century, and his exceptional workmanship earned the artisan the appointment as Official Clockmaker to King George III. The mechanism is signed "Ellicott / London", indicating this clock was created during Ellicott's 12-year partnership with his son, Edward. Circa 1820. 4 5/8" high
