Exceptional French Empire Period Gilt-Bronze Mantel Clock


French Empire period gilt-bronze clock featuring Cupid, the son of Venus (also known as "Amour"), serenading Psyche with her butterfly wings. The bronze sculpture is very finely chased. The gilding is the original fire gilding in very good condition, with burnished details. The clock is in working condition and strikes on the hour and half hour. The movement has a silk suspension and a knob for adjusting the speed.
