About the Item

Stunning three-piece mantel clock set in Siena marble and bronze, French Empire period. The main piece at center features a cast bronze hound sitting uneasily upon the plinth. Roman numerals are applied directly to the marble face in lieu of a dial, using hour and minute hands of snakes to indicate the time. A porthole window on the back allows access to the mechanism for service. Flanking the clock are two accessory pedestals in the same ochre-toned Siena marble, mounted with exquisite bronze urns or tazza, with Neoclassical motifs in style of bronziers Choiselat & Gallien. No key is present but the clock will chime if provoked. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition. Sold as a set of three pieces.
