About the Item

A most spectacular and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. white Carrara marble, ormolu and patinated bronze annular clock, signed MARTI, circa 1840. Raised by a circular white Carrara marble fluted base above a chased ormolu base and bun feet. Above is a beaded band and acanthus decorated fut. The gadroon shaped fluted urn of prosperity has two patinated bronze cherubs holding grapevines in each hand, above the silvered bronze chapter ring dials. The top lid has large chased acanthus leaves below the top acorn finial. Exceptional quality.
