French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Patinated Bronze, Ormolu and Marble Clock

About the Item

An elegant French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze, ormolu, and white Carrara marble clock signed H Luppens & Cie. The clock is raised by five topie shaped feet with fine wrap around berried laurel bands. The rectangular white Carrara marble base displays cut corners and lovely fitted intertwined foliate ormolu bands. Above is a richly chased and most charming patinated bronze winged cherub draped in a flowing garment leaning on the clock whilst reading a book. The enameled clock face displays pierced ormolu hands and finely hand-painted swaging floral garlands with a wonderful and most decorative berried oak leaf and ribbon draped above. All original gilt throughout.
