French Early 19th Century Empire Gilt Bronze Dragon Handled Urn Clock
About the Item
An rare model French Empire mantle clock featuring a classical urn with dragon handles. The clock is entirely of gilded bronze with original fire gilding. The urn-shaped case is surmounted with a pineapple finial; on either side of the 4.5? White enamel dial are fire-breathing climbing dragons. The case is totally embellished with decorative empire ornaments. The clock has its original silk-string suspension movement ringing the hours and halves on a bell.
