Gilt Bronze Fireplace Set, Napoleon III, 19th Century

About the Item

Gilt bronze mantelpiece with 2 patinas (matt and shiny) composed of a clock and 2 candelabras. The clock is decorated with caryatids holding garlands of flowers and laurel leaves, and fire pots or basins with pines and lion heads. The candelabras of 7 lights each are held on each side by women with bare busts, standing on a foot ending in a clog. Movement by Japy brothers, Medal of Honor. Beautiful gilding, beautiful chiseling, slight wear of time to the patina. Mechanics not guaranteed. Dimensions of the clock: H62cm, 43 x 18cm. Dimensions of the candelabras: H64cm, 32 x 17cm.
