About the Item
Lenzkirch Mantel Clock Circa 1895-1900 in Walnut Case
A Lenzkirch mantel clock, dated circa 1895–1900 (based on the serial number visible on the back of the clock). The clock features a wooden case adorned with floral brass decorations and rests on four small feet. The clock has undergone a professional watchmaker's inspection and strikes full hours and half-hours.
Lenzkirch clocks are high-quality German timepieces, produced by the Lenzkirch Clock Company, founded in 1851 by Johannes A. Vogler and his partners in the Black Forest region. The company gained a reputation for precision and craftsmanship, making both standing and wall clocks, with many featuring intricate mechanisms and elegant designs.
Serial number 1226540 suggests the clock was made around 1895-1900, a period when the company was at its peak. Lenzkirch clocks were highly regarded for their reliability and are still sought after by collectors today, representing classic examples of German watchmaking from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The company ceased production in the 1960s, but its clocks remain highly valued.
