Lenzkirch Mantel Clock in Walnut Case, Early 20th Century

About the Item

Lenzkirch Mantel Clock from the Early 20th Century in Walnut Case Lenzkirch Mantel Clock, dated around 1903-1905. The piece features a wooden case adorned with brass fittings, decorated with floral motifs, and a cherub face, resting on four small feet. The clock face displays both Roman and Arabic numerals. The clock has been serviced and is in working order. Lenzkirch clocks are German mechanical timepieces that gained popularity in the 19th and early 20th centuries and are renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship. The Lenzkirch company was founded in 1851 in the town of Lenzkirch in the Black Forest region by Johannes A. Vogler and his partners. These clocks were highly valued for their precision, reliability, and elegant design and were produced as both mantel and wall clocks. The serial number 1272195 indicates that this clock was manufactured around 1903-1905, suggesting it originates from a period when the company was well-established in the market. Clocks from this series often featured high-quality mechanisms, frequently equipped with a chime function. Over time, the Lenzkirch company underwent various ownership changes, gaining further recognition. However, after World War II, clock production declined, and the company was ultimately dissolved in 1960. Despite this, Lenzkirch clocks remain highly sought after by collectors and are considered classic examples of German clockmaking precision from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
