About the Item

A superb and rare Louis XVI style gilt bronze mounted amethyst rotary clock French, circa 1885, in the manner of Edward Minart the urn form clock case with porcelain dials and white enamel chapters flanked by a pair of handles with a laurel swag and surmounted by a amethyst cover applied with gilt bronze acanthus leaves with a bud-form finial. Measures: Height 14 in.; 4 7/8 in. square 35.56 cm.; 12.38 cm.
