Swedish Tallcase Clock

About

Like all older creatures this longcase clock has undoubtably lived a varied and wonderfully interesting life. Who knows how long the clock works and case have lived together, one may only guess. Resting behind the glazed upper door is an arched dial having an engraved makers plaque and side elements in the form of sea creatures. The clocks maker information appears to be ;Andes Erenberg Engelholm No + 133;. The engraved dial shows roman numerals and arabic numbers which are indicated by the steel cut hands. The dial corners are embellished with natives in head dress, perhaps representing American indians or residents of some far off island. All elements are a fixed to a gilt backplate. A second hinged door opens to a pendulam and two large iron weights which are suspended on wooden pulleys and cord, all of which may be seen thru the glazed spy hole.
