About the Item

A beautiful and decorative late Empire console clock crafted in Cuban mahogany. The case is architecturally shaped with gracefully curved lines and executed with fine craftsmanship. The twelve-sided clock housing features an enamel dial with Roman numerals, framed by a profiled and gilded bronze bezel with convex glass. The front is adorned with gilt bronze plaques finely engraved with floral and bird motifs, and the pendulum is embellished with a gilded bronze plaque in the form of a lion. A characterful and decorative piece representing the refined Danish interpretation of the Empire style in the early 19th century. The clock is in working condition. Denmark, 1820-1830
