About the Item

A good Regency stye German Ebonised Bracket or Table Clock by Winterhalder and Hofmeier, Black Forest, Germany. In fine original condition and recently fully professionally serviced and checked over. Keeps perfect time. The eight day movement chimes the hours and the quarters and is contained in a beautiful ebonised wooden case embelished with fine ormolu mounts, feet and finials. The silvered dial with Roman numerals and outer seconds ring surrounded by elaborate brass spandrels. With regulator dial above. A beautiful decorative clock with delightful cathedral sounding low-tone bell. Clocks from Winterhalder & Hofmeier are mechanical precision clocks with the quality standards of Black Forest craftsmanship. The numbers of the dial face are in Roman numerals. The dial face is embraced by wood. The clocks can be identified by the engraved W & H SCH initial letters. Most of the clocks were made from 1850 to 1933. Bracket clocks and grandfather clocks were mainly exported to the UK, Ireland and the United States, others to Russia, Japan and China.
