French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu and Porcelain Clock

About

An elegant French 19th century Louis XVI St. ormolu and porcelain clock. The small scale clock is raised by fine tapered fluted legs below striking richly chased block rosettes centering a lovely pierced rinceaux shaped fitted ormolu plaque. The elegantly curved body displays a finely detailed berried laurel band with superb scrolled movements at each side and a charming hand painted fitted porcelain plaque of two beautiful maidens playing with butterflies, leaves and a winged cherub, possibly by Sèvres. The enameled clock face displays lovely hand painted foliate movements amidst musical instruments, Roman numerals and pierced iron hands with a clover design. Above is the striking urn with beautiful Greek key handles and finely chased foliate designs with a top acorn finial.
