About the Item

French Empire gilt bronze pendulum dating from the early 1800s, charming table clock with allegory of the Arts, arched case, flanked by two putti, one seated with a book and the other upright, one foot resting on books, intent on playing a musical instrument; the clock's base, with two rectangular steps and the decorative frieze with floral motifs, in the Empire taste, adds an additional touch of elegance, while the half-sphere pearl feet provide good stability. The white enamel dial with Roman numerals within mock bookcase surmounted by laurel wreaths and plant festoons, although it has a small felure, is framed by a fine leaf motif. The mask above the dial is a decorative element that enriches the design of the watch, making it a valuable object not only as an instrument for measuring time, but also as a empire-style artifact. This finely chiseled, gilded bronze library clock is ideal for a desk as well as a shelf due to its very small size. It comes from France, dating back to early 19th century and is in working order, with beautiful original mercury gilding. It beats the hour and half-hour. Pendulum with silk thread and key. Period: early 1800s Height: 26 cm / 10 in Width:- 18cm Depth: 11.5 cm We ship from Italy.
