French Mid-19th Century Louis XVI Style Marble and Ormolu Clock

A spectacular French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. white Carrara marble and ormolu clock in the manner of Clodion. The clock is raised by elegant reeded topie shaped feet below the white Carrara marble base. The base displays a beautiful intricately detailed fitted ormolu plaque of charming cherubs playing flanked by stunning foliate fitted plaques at each side in a rich satin and burnished finish. The central support displays a richly chased pierced foliate and floral ormolu reserve with a central pendulum shaped mask all below the beautiful white enameled clock face. The clock face displays fine colorful swaging floral garlands, pierced foliate hands, and Arabic numerals all framed within the mottled and beaded bezel. At one side is a charming seated winged cherub, possibly Cupid, holding a bow while at the other side is a beautiful maiden draped in a lovely flowing dress seemingly rearranging the top crown. The top crown displays the impressive eternal flame at the center amidst a quiver and arrows tied with a charming richly chased floral garland. All original gilt throughout.
