German Horizontal Table Clock

$12,500

About

An incredibly rare 19th century horizontal table mystery clock with single hand by German clockmaker F.S. Rosenlehner of Munich. This fascinating antique timepiece features a free wielding hand that rotates upon a fixed point in the centre of a glass dial to indicate the hour via a magnetized mechanism within its base. The case is crafted of walnut in a Renaissance-inspired style. The clock comes with a winding key and an original paper label that gives instructions on operating this wonderful mechanism. The glass dial is inscribed "F.S. Rosenlehner, München", circa 1880.
