About the Item

Travel foldable clock designed by Hall Du Voyage Paris. This is a beautiful and useful travel watch, created in Paris France in the early 20th century. The watch case is foldable and was crafted in sterling silver with applications of blackened Niello. Fitted with two sets of five barrels hinges, a push snap locket and a movable ring on top to wear in a chain or watch-fob. Dial: Round in white porcelain with Arabic golden numbers, blued steel hands and secondary dial for seconds. Signed Hall Du Voyage Rue Des Pyramids Paris, Movement: Mechanical hand-winding. Case: Sterling silver, foldable with push button. Weight: 62.95 Grams, (40.36 Dwt). Measurements: 46 mm by 54 mm by 12 mm (1.81 x 2.13 x 0.47 Inches). Hallmarks: All parts are stamped with French marks, the maker's mark HF inside a lozenge cartouche, the mark for the assay and warranty of the .900 silver and the five-digits case reference numbers 11076. and signed as follows: "HALL DU VOYAGE RUE DES PYRAMIDES PARIS 11076". Niello This is a black mixture, usually of copper and silver, used as an inlay on engraved or silver. It is added as a powder or paste, then fired until it melts or at least softens, and flows or is pushed into the engraved lines in the metal. It hardens and blackens when it cools, and the niello on the flat surface is polished off to show the filled lines in black, contrasting with the polished silver. It may also be used with other metalworking techniques to cover larger areas. The metal where niello is to be placed is often roughened to provide a key. In many cases, especially in objects that have been buried underground, where the niello is now lost, the roughened surface indicates that it was once there. Collateral: This travel clock is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of this travel clock is excellent. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver. All parts are secured in their settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
