About the Item

This exquisite French Empire figural mantel clock represents the pinnacle of 19th-century artistry and craftsmanship. Featuring a beautifully cast bronze figure of a seated classical youth, the piece radiates neoclassical elegance. The figure is finely detailed, with carefully modeled features and drapery that highlight the sculptor’s mastery. The bronze is complemented by gilded ormolu mounts, adding richness and contrast against the ebonized base, which enhances the overall dramatic effect. The timepiece itself is nestled within an intricately decorated mount, adorned with laurel wreaths and neoclassical motifs symbolic of victory, wisdom, and eternity. Below, the base features a finely chased ormolu relief of musical and academic instruments, celebrating enlightenment and culture. Supported by detailed gilt bronze feet, the clock is both sturdy and refined, a true statement piece for any distinguished collection. Ideal for collectors of Empire, neoclassical, and French decorative arts, this clock seamlessly blends functionality and artistic excellence. Whether displayed in a grand library, formal living room, or as part of a curated antique collection, it epitomizes the luxury, refinement, and history of the French Empire period.
