Vintage Carved Wood and Poly Chrome Painted Figural Musical Clock Figurine
Located in Hamilton, Ontario
This vintage hand carved and hand painted musical clock is unsigned, but presumed to have been made in or near Austria in circa 1950 in a Folk Art style. The carving depicts a male figure leaning against a post mounted Black Forest styled clock. The carving is quite detailed and well executed on all sides and has been hand painted in a realistic style. Both the clock and the music box are currently not working as both have been over-wound and would require servicing. The head of the carving should turn slightly left to right while the music box is playing, but in its current state it is unknown whether the mechanism functions and/or what tune the music box may play. In addition, there is currently no key for the clock, but these normally use a standard small music box...

18th Century Danish Tall Case Clock, circa 1750
Located in Miami, FL
Pine 18th Century Danish Tall Case Clock in White Lacquer, circa 1750 Provenance is attributable to the Royal Family of Denmark.18th century clock with etched dial and special music box type chimes. The clock presently chimes on the quarter hours with a small bell and again on the hour with a larger bell. Originally it appears that the movement had a tower of bells that played a melody on the quarter hours. The smallest of those original bells is the only one surviving. The long stem that housed the bells exist and the music box type sprocket with raised actuators that set the strikers in motion along with the hand made spring that powered the strikers still exist. The clock case is pine and was originally painted with blue 18th century milk paint but has subsequently been over painted with a Scandinavian white lacquer. The inside of the case behind the movement has two wax seals. These are the royal seals of Denmark that would have been used as an inventory control in the royal household. The clock must have been commissioned by the Royal family and used in one of the 18th century royal residences. Please note the royal blue color of the face which is probably the original milk paint, and the cherubs on the face that are holding up the crown. The movement has been restored to a good working condition. We replaced all three hand-made wooden pulleys that hold the weights with brass pulleys. One antique...
