Empire Cistern Barometer by Gabriel Of rectangular form, with the case waisted, veneered in burr elm with mounts in the manner of Percier and Fontaine, of cistern type, with bronze bulb guard mounts, showing the range from 'Tres Sec to Tempete' with a vernier calliper. Signed 'Gabriel' French, Circa 1820 Jean Chevalier Gabriel (1777-1848) is recorded as a sundial and barometer maker.
