Charpentier Bronze - Achille Brocot Table or Wall Incomplete Clock
Tremendous and rare incomplete table clock by Charpentier and the clock works by Paris clockmaker Louis Achille Brocot (French, 11 July 1817 – 19 January 1878) was a French clockmaker and amateur mathematician.
He is known for his discovery (contemporaneously with, but independently of, German number theorist Moritz Stern) of the Stern–Brocot tree, a mathematical structure useful in approximating real numbers by rational numbers; this sort of approximation is an important part of the design of gear ratios for clocks. The Bronze clock body is by the renowned bronze maker Charpentier.
This was originally a table Clock with a figural stand to support the clock; currently it has a bracket installed to hang from a bracket or nail. The clock is running and will need to be set up on a bracket and leveled by a clock repair person. A great interior architectural piece in it's own right. We wound and established to escapement operates by the operation of the wound main spring. Doesn't chime currently probably disabled, (chime spring winds as it should. We included a picture of a Complete Charpentier Bronze table clokk as a reference only and not included.

- Condition:Additions or alterations made to the original: A bracket was added to hang the clock on a wall by a hook or nail. Would have had a figural stand to support the clock as a Table Clock. Bell and nut is missing on interior of clock, Chime is disabled, spring operates. Running, will need service. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. Incomplete; clock body only. Currently spring operates the action of the movement and pendulum and will need professional adjustment and completion of missing parts. Sold as-is. Complete clock picture is for reference only.
