About the Item

This is a Henry Lepaute wood wall clock. It depicts the clock wood case shaped as a coat of arm shield. The wood case is adorned in each one of the upper corners with one heraldic symbol made of marquetry. The round clock face is white color with black color Roman numerals. Both hands are also black color. A gold tone metal frames the inside central circle and the outside border of the dial. At the lower part of the central face is written the name of the clock maker-as above- and his address in Paris. The time and chime winds are also in this lower part. The dial has a hinged round glass door that its border is adorned with gold tone metal beads. A round brass pendulum come out from the bottom part of the clock box. A metal key is included for the time and chime winds. Lepaute maternal uncles were Royal Clockmakers to the French King on 1750’s. He also designed revolving lenses for the lighthouses and their clockworks.

A very fine late 19th century French Belle Epoque mounted bronze Dòre flame mahogany Cartel wall clock.
