About the Item

This Kienzel wall clock with a Space Modern design was produced in the early 1960s. Its black thin metal body with the hour numbers in gold paint has one of the iconic shapes of the 1950s-60s. It is in very good condition considering its age though we had to replace the original C battery moment with a new AA battery moment. It keeps time perfectly. Kienzle was the oldest clockmaking business in Germany before its demised in 2014. It was founded by Johannes Schlenker's in Schwenningen, Germany in 1822 and became Schlenker & Kienzle in 1883. By 1939, Kienzle was making about 5 million clocks per year. Kienzle was the major supplier of the timepieces for the use in the dashboards of luxury cars, such as Rolls Royce and Bentley. Kienzle had a factory in Italy before the war which produced pocket and wristwatches for the Italian market. In 1933, Kienzle was bought by the Weyler brothers. The German arm of the company closed in 2014. Their Italian subsidiary, now named Eurotime Solution S.r.l., still produces wristwatches today. Condition: Works well. Minor wear consistent with age and use; minor fine scratches on face. Please look at all pics. Measurements: 1 inch deep x 12 1/4 inches diameter.

Art Deco period clock designed and manufactured by Hammond Clock Co. of Chicago. This is the Grenadier Synchronous clock featuring Laurens Hammond's innovated electric motor. The face of the clock's hour numbers, in a Deco font, are set on a gold circle with a beige background. It is stamped HAMMOND Synchronous on the front. The face is contained within a chrome front, in very good condition, and held up by two oblong chrome legs. GRENADIER is inscribed on the back brass leg.
