Large Antique Arts & Crafts Oak, Glass & Brass Wall Clock with Chime Mechanism

About the Item

Stunning and largest early 1900s Arts and Crafts wall clock. If you are looking for a larger than average, striking design and excellent condition Arts and Crafts wall clock then this rare specimen could be gracing the wall of your home or office space soon. All handcrafted in the earliest years of the twentieth century this work of time telling art is not only very beautiful, it is also guaranteed to be of a quality that you don't find anymore in this day and age. Both the clock case and movement (including the dial face) are of exceptional quality and beauty. The stunningly embossed dial face with the pure Arts and Crafts design patterns also comes with perfectly contrasting black Arts and Crafts numerals which makes telling time from a distance easy as well. The original hands of this clock are of the kind of minimalistic elegance that you would expect from a top quality made European clock from the Arts & Crafts era. Have you also noticed the extra hole in the middle of the exceptional dial face? That hole is wound counterclockwise and it winds the chime mechanism, one that creates the special and very warm gong sounds of the chime. The antique and beautiful movement is serviced and in perfect working order. Have you also noticed the equally beautiful and excellent condition pendulum behind the original and mint glass and how the two geometrical oak pillars are placed slightly more to the front to create the extra depth perspective? All these unique and exceptional design elements combined are what makes this a top quality workmanship wall clock, one that will never fail to impress. The perfect eight day mechanism comes with a stylish key for winding it and she strikes the whole hours and once on the half hours. Besides that the chime mechanism strikes its chimes on all quarters of the hour. Should you not like all the warm gong sounds then there always is the possibility of silencing them. Unfortunately we do not know and cannot find the name of the designer or the maker, but in this case it does not take a connoisseur to realize that this exceptional wall clock can only be by one of the greats in European Arts and Crafts (or Jugendstil) design. So if you already have a place in mind for this one of a kind Arts and Crafts wall clock then maybe you should be its next custodian. If you like this top quality workmanship wall clock as much as we do then you will certainly love our price. Especially, since perfect packing (in a custom made box) and worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 3 to 6 days are complimentary. Maximum height x width x depth: 44.1 x 14 x 8.25 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for the best craftsmanship of years gone by. Large Masterly Carved Swiss Black Forest Nutwood Chalet with Clock and Music Box
Located in Lisse, NL
Top quality, hand carved and truly impressive antique clock with 8 music melodies. Over the years we have had the pleasure of owning and selling a number of beautiful Black Forest antiques, but never did we come accross a 19th century Black Forest clock with musical box of this size and with such amazing natural details and patina AND with the original clock and music box inside. And if that was not enough, this finest of Black Forest clocks is top quality carved from top to bottom in the form of a detailed Swiss chalet. Mind you, this very rare antique clock is entirely hand carved out of nutwood only, which is another sign of the quality of the workmanship and the richness of materials. We have added a large variety of photos so that you can see the many incredibly detailed parts of this Swiss chalet, such as the roof and chimney, the many doors, the stacked lumber outside, the doghouse, the outhouse on the side, the striking balconies, the goose sticking its head out through the balcony, the picked fence, the ladder going up to the barn loft, the clock inside the facade of the house, the music box cilinder in the base etc etc. This antique clock from the 1800s really comes with the most realistically carved chalet house you will ever see. To us, that too is a sign that this Black Forest music box...
