This large Swiss masterpiece wall plaque with clock is in perfect condition.
The realistic and detailed carving consists of a pair of pheasant, a bird's nest, fine leafs and branches. The warm patina makes this grandeur Black Forest work of art a pleasure to watch and thanks to the beautiful dial face with enamelled cartouche numerals the time can also be well read from a distance. The clock movement is in a perfect, clean, oiled and working condition.

This sizable and top quality carved Black Forest book stand is another one of our unique offerings to the 1stdibs community this week. The quality of the details in the head, in the spread wings and in the branches that make the base, is right up there with the best we have ever seen. If you have really good eyes then you can see a restauration on the back where there once was a crack. However, when placed on a sidetable or credenza (or wherever you want to showcase this antique), no one will notice. Also, because the intricacy is so overwhelming that no one will notice the minor restauration. The actual bookstand on which we displayed a small book sideways (in image7) is in mint condition and can be folded open and 'shut' by means of the original brass hinges. The book we displayed here is about the same size as an open folded, small bible from the late 19th century. The entire look and feel of this Swiss Black Forest work of art is enhanced by its amazing patina and it truly is a marvel to own and look at.
