Portuguese Wall Clock, Art Deco
About the Item
Portuguese wall clock, Art Deco. With straight lines and gentle curves, the frame is made of varnished wood, with a rectangular shape and slightly arched top. The dial is white with black Arabic numerals and an internal 24-hour marker. The metal hands are simple and functional.
At the bottom, a glazed window displays the metal pendulum, protected by a thin grid. The winding mechanism has a sound function for hourly chimes. The wood shows some signs of wear, in keeping with its age.
This type of clock was popular in Portugal in the first half of the 20th century, combining functionality with decoration.
On the back: “A Boa Reguladora, Clock Factory founded in 1892. J. Carvalho & Irmão, Lda., Vila Nova de Famalicão”.
