About the Item

19th Century French University Teaching Shapes - Collection Of Eight. We know little of the history or use of this collection but they are from the late 19th Century and came from a French universities scientific archive. We believe they may have been used to test shadows and light refraction using various lenses as we have listed separately one of the lens holders which came with the collection. Beautiful and rare objects. The stands are ebonised hand turned beech, and are slightly adjustable. The listing is for the collection of eight pieces as shown. Workshop Report: Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
