About the Item
19th Century French University Teaching Shapes - Collection Of Eight.
We know little of the history or use of this collection but they are from the late 19th Century and came from a French universities scientific archive. We believe they may have been used to test shadows and light refraction using various lenses as we have listed separately one of the lens holders which came with the collection. Beautiful and rare objects. The stands are ebonised hand turned beech, and are slightly adjustable. The listing is for the collection of eight pieces as shown.
Workshop Report:
