Bronze Writing Set, 19th Century

About the Item

On a tray of curved profiles decorated with moldings and scallops on its edges are the four containers that make up the desk. The sandbox or salvador, the duster and the inkwell present clear lines and smooth areas, combined with fine moldings resembling a cord; the oval box with lid finished in knob shows smooth moldings in all its exterior surface. While certain details (particularly the tray) could remind some Rococo works of the eighteenth century, the attenuation of the movement of the same, the decoration of the containers, the lines and the lack of outstanding decorative elements would be more characteristic of the Neoclassicism of the centuries XVIII and XIX, as is the inspiration in styles of the past and the combination of several currents in the same piece." Size: 25 x 18 x 11 cms.
