Chinese Gilt Brass Cloisonné “Scroll and Floral” Nine‑Piece Desk Set, 20th Century, Unmarked A rare and complete nine‑piece Chinese gilt brass cloisonné desk set, exquisitely decorated with an allover repeating scrollwork and floral motif in yellow and gold tones. The intricate pattern—featuring interlocking spirals, stylized tulips, and ribbon‑tied floral sprays—symbolizes harmony, prosperity, and scholarly refinement in Chinese decorative tradition. The set comprises: a letter rack (8" W x 5" H x 2" D) decorated on both sides, an inkwell (4" W x 2.75" D x 4" H) with hinged lid and original enamel interior, an oblong tray (9" W x 3.5" D x 1" H), a rocker blotter (5" W x 2.5" D x 3" H), a three‑compartment stamp box (4" W x 2" D x 1.75" H) with yellow enamel interior, and four blotter corners (each 4.5" W x 2.5" D x 0.75" H). The unusual choice of gilt brass with cloisonné enamel for a complete writing suite suggests either a custom order or presentation set, as such combinations were less common in the 20th century than traditional copper‑based cloisonné.
