About the Item
A very fine quality, exquisitely hand-crafted, late nineteenth century bronze doré mounted Royal Porcelain Factory Berlin (KPM) porcelain five piece desk set.
The breathtaking antique set features Hermann August Seger porcelain, ornate highly sculpted gilt bronze ormolu, superb detail throughout, in the classic timeless elegant Louis XV style. Petite, sophisticated, and delicate with a strong presence, the perfect finishing touch to your French bureau de dame (ladies desk). circa 1880s
Individually they're exceptionally rare, as a complete set remaining together after 130 years, they're truly spectacular!
Signed, having the cobalt blue scepter with Sgr.P. Impressed: 3388 A
The lot comprising five pieces:
1 encrier (inkwell desk tray / inkstand);
1 ink blotter;
Pair of (2) dainty candle holders, which at that time served the dual purpose of melting sealing wax used to stamp and seal, as well as acting as a desk lamp to allow writing at night, pre-electricity;
1 matchbox holder and ashtray
