The Dictionary of Worcester Porcelain, Volume I, 1751-1851, John Sandon, page 153-54 where he mentions that feather painting was very costly as can be seen from the Chamberlain order books.
On page 207 under the entry for Inkwells, Sandon writes that "Worcester produced few inkwells before 1810. Early shapes have a very individual hand-thrown feel and follow a basic drum shape with a central well surrounded by quill holes. Examples are decorated mostly in blue with standard patterns."
