About the Item
English Regency ormolu inkstand with watch movement circa 1815. The whole in fine original condition. The rectangular base is set on four animal paw feet and has a fine decorative moulding around the lower edge. To the centre is a shaped pin bowl set on a waisted stem above a square base. To each side of the bowl are beautiful cut glasses with ormolu bases and lids. One for ink and the other for sand. Both lids and bases are wax cast and have fine decoration. To the rear is the figure of cupid holding up a ribbed ball with decorative supports. The cupid stands upon an ormolu cylinder also wax cast with swirling decoration. Within the ball on the cupid's head is a watch with fine movement, white enamel dial, gold hands and front winding and setting.
